Calm to the storm

I am Randi DuLaney. Single mom of 2 Kids, Entrepreneur, all around go getter who loves life and the people that matter most. Like you, I try to do it all. This is a blog to connect to you and yours. To give encouragement and to say…Yes life isn’t a cake walk but it is something we all can get through together. Superwoman can do it all. I mean if she can do it I can right?
I keep telling myself I can do it. I can get everything done.
I can run a full time start up business. I can do homework at night with 2 kids, cook all the meals, have the spotless car and house, keep myself fit and healthy. I can be an awesome mom, business owner, daughter, sister, niece, friend, and Christian. I can coach my kids extra curriculars. I can bring snacks and make all field trips. I can have the house decorated every holiday. I can have a personal life. I can fit time in to take care of myself mentally, physically, and emotionally. That’s all doable. I can succeed at everything…Superwoman can do it.
Being a single mom and the breadwinner for years now, I feel the pressures of being Superwoman. Doing it all. Never wanting to give myself an excuse or a break for not doing something. I mean, doesn’t everyone get up in the morning and stand in the mirror doing the Superwoman pose? That’s a completely common thing. Right?
I have been learning a lesson over this past year. Here is the takeaway from starting my own business from scratch, being a full-time parent, and trying to be absolutely kick butt in every area of life.
1. Breathe. Stop and be still.
2. It’s all going to work out for the best if your perspective is on point.
3. Your kids love you and are proud of what you have accomplished.
4. Support systems are vital to survival.
5. The weight is heavy, but you don’t have to carry it alone. Delegate.
6. Get a mentor who you can trust and that will be a part of your journey.
7. No is a GOOD word.
8. Keep your Why and your goals in front of you.
9. Go see a counselor
10. You can do it all it just may look differently than you planned it.
Superwoman, you’re not as big of a myth as you seem. We women just need to remember even though we have superpowers, we are still human. We need to seek grace from ourselves. Remember if we keep the right perspective everything will be easier to handle. Our jobs are hard- no doubt. But… We truly were built for the challenge. Superwoman, You CAN!
